BEDFORD, N.Y. ? Residents will have a chance to help shape the direction of the community's public schools through a phone survey being conducted by the Bedford Central School District.
The community-wide survey will reach out to 500 district households.
On Oct. 9, the district's new Community Investment Program (CIP) Committee, chaired by Christina Dochtermann, held its kick-off meeting, inviting more than 160 community members to learn about the district’s capital project needs and how the committee will plan a course of action to address those needs.
The survey is part of a process to involve the community in gathering input and addressing questions about the plan. The plan currently includes renovating West Patent Elementary School and turning it into a model “green” school, modernizing Fox Lane Middle School's science labs and cafeteria, renovating Fox Lane's stadium and completing first-priority infrastructure needs in all district buildings.
More than half the calls in coming weeks will be to households without children in the 59-square-mile district's schools. District residents should answer their phones if the caller ID comes up "Texas" or "Unknown." The surveyors will introduce themselves by name and say they're from the Attitude Research Company.
District residents are also encouraged to provide feedback in an Internet survey to be sent out around Nov. 17. Go to the district website to learn more about upcoming capital projects. Input can also be emailed to communityinvestmentprogram@gmail.com.
