PSP were called to the Newville area school for a report of “sexually explicit images found on a school laptop used by a student,” at 2 p.m on April 22 as stated in a release by police.
The school was at the center of another sexual images investigation in 2015 for a student sexting ring, leading to 20 to 25 mobile devices being seized from students, according to police.
The sexting investigation at Big Spring High School only closed due to difficulty gaining pass codes or "cracking" the phones; and the social app, KiK refusing to comply with search warrant requests to identify of users found with images, said Newville police said in a statement in 2016.
The Cumberland County District Attorney had the police return the phones to parents in 2016.
Police asked all of the parents to "have a conversation with your child about appropriate behavior and making good moral decisions before placing anything on the web."
Police also asked parents who received phones returned after the investigation, to perform a factory reset, "in order to ensure any images on the phones are deleted."
"We're a rural district with a strong moral fiber," said Superintendent Richard Fry in 2015 to Fox43. "We have some work to do on our end with our community. A lot of time, we end up reacting. It's not where we want to be but we're going to do what's best for our kids."
No charges were ever filed in the 2015 case. The investigation into the current case of sexual images on a laptop is on-going.
