Damien Daniel Boyles, 23, of Carlisle, was pulled over in his 2005 Toyota Sienna for speeding and failing to maintain his lane along Walnut Bottom Road near South College Street in Carlisle just before midnight on Sunday, May, 8, according to a release by state police.

Instead of following police requests, Boyles was “instantly argumentative and refused to provide identifying information,” police say.

It was at that point when troopers spotted a gun between Boyles’ legs and removed him from his Sienna, but continued to refuse to follow police commands. Instead, he spit in one trooper’s face and kicked another face in the face while they attempted to arrest him, according to the release.

When he was finally placed in a patrol vehicle he kicked it hard enough to cause damage.

Boyles has been charged with three felonies for two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and carrying a loaded weapon while not being licensed to carry, three misdemeanors for DUI, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, as well as three summary charges for driving with a suspended license— his fifth offense— disregarding traffic lane, and exceeding the speed limit, police say and court records confirm.

He was held in the Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $100,000, police say.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan R. Birbeck at 8 a.m. on May 25, according to his most recent court docket.

He also has a pretrial conference in June in connection with a Sept. 2021 incident involving fleeing from state troopers.
