Cesar Tavarez, 30, of Leesport, was convicted on charges of attempted murder, persons not to possess firearms, conspiracy, and related offenses, after a two-day trial, according to the Berks County District Attorney's Office.
Melvin Parker, 11, was sitting in a parked car in the 100 block of West Oley Street in Reading with his mother and her boyfriend on July 19, 2019, when shots were fired into the car, WFMZ reports.
Parker was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the face and survived, reports say.
The shooting broke out during an apparent altercation between his mother's boyfriend and two other men, the outlet says.
Police previously told CBS2 they believe the boy wasn’t the intended target.
Tavarez is still being held at the Berks County Prison awaiting sentencing.
