Current Senator Pat Toomey is not seeking reelection, and with control over the US Senate at stake, Trump has backed Sean Parnell.

Parnell is a US Army veteran, an author and a frequent Fox News guest.

Parnell “will make Pennsylvania very proud and will fight for election integrity, strong borders, our Second Amendment, energy bobs, and so much more," Trump said in a statement. "Sean Parnell will always put America first. He has my complete and total endorsement!"

Parnell lives in the Pittsburgh area.

Trump previously backed Parnell's bid for a U.S. House, and he lost to Democrat Conor Lamb.

Lamb is currently running for the Senate seat as a Democrat against Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh and PA Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia.

The Republican primary ticket will be between real estate developer Jeff Bartos of Lower Merion, Lobbyist Craig Snyder of Philadelphia, conservative commentator and US Army veteran Kathy Barnette of Montgomery County, and Former US Ambassador to Denmark Carla Sands of Mechanicsburg.

Sands also has ties to Trump as she was his appointee serving as a US ambassador from 2016-2021.

The significance of Trump’s endorsement remains to be seen.
