Ephrata Man, 33, Dies In Crash Into 2 Utility Poles, Stone Wall, Fire Hydrant: Police

A 33-year-old man has died after a serious crash into two utility poles, a stone wall, and a fire hydrant while driving a commercial truck, police say.

Manheim Township police were called to investigate the crash in the 2000 Block Lititz Pike/PA 501 in at 4:11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, according to a release by the department. 

The driver of the box truck was heading northbound when he left the roadway on the eastern side, striking the previously mentioned utility poles, stone wall, and fire hydrant— and flipping the truck onto the driver's side, according to the release. 

Emergency crews arrived to find the unresponsive driver trapped in the truck and had to work to extricate the man, as explained in the release.

His name has yet to be released, at the time of publication. 

"The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators conducted a crash reconstruction of the scene," police say. 

As of 1 p.m., utility crews were still on the scene working to install new poles, but the roadway has reopened to traffic. 

The police continue to investigate this deadly crash.
