An explosive fire erupted at a power station in western Pennsylvania on Monday, authorities said. A reactor “catastrophically failed" at the Duquesne Lighting electrical facility on Brunot Island just after 8 p.m. on July 24, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. The reactor failure sparked "multiple explosions" leading to several fires at the facility, Assistant Pittsburgh Fire Chief Brian Kokkila said. Two Children, Adult Dead In Pittsburgh Area House Fire
Two children and one adult were killed in a Pittsburgh area house fire that left 10 others displaced overnight. The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. on the 3400 block of McClure Avenue and quickly grew to three alarms Saturday, Dec. 17, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire said. A woman was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, and another woman and eight children were safely evacuated from the home. Massive Pittsburgh Fire Kills Man; Hurts First Responders, Displaces 106 People: Authorities
A five-alarm fire started in a 12th-floor apartment left one dead, two injured, and 106 displaced, authorities say. The fire broke out in the Roosevelt Building in the 600 block of Penn Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday December 11, Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, Pittsburgh Public Safety, and the Red Cross of Great PA said in separate statements.
