The juvenile was arrested on Jan. 27 and charged with criminal homicide and related offenses for the August 2021 shooting that left 18-year-old Samad Montgomery dead, according to the City of Chester Police Department.

He was denied bail and committed to Aspire Youth Center in Uniontown (Fayette County), local police said.

An investigation began at approximately 5 a.m. on Aug. 7 when police were called to the 1200 block of Clover Lane on a report of shots fired, Chester police said.

Montgomery was discovered lying on his back outside the open driver's side door of a gold Lexus, according to police.

He had been shot in the hip and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, authorities said.

On Jan. 27, a search warrant was served at a home in the 100 block of West 5th Street and the juvenile's 2005 gray Ford Escape, yielding marijuana and a fully-loaded silver and black Ruger P95 9mm pistol, police said.

The City of Chester Police Department investigated.
