Rakeem Markel Jones was taken into custody in Georgia on Nov. 6, Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers announced on Tuesday.

His cousin, Shadarryl Jones had previously been arrested in connection with the same incident on Thursday, July 28, 2022, Pennsylvania State Poice explained.

Jones and his cousin Rakeem Jones had been wanted since the pair shot at two Pennsylvania State Police troopers and an Erie police officer during a pursuit from an armed robbery along Chestnut Street, Erie in the early morning of June 25, 2022, US Marshals said and court records confirmed.

Both men have previously served prison time and were on probation. Neither of them should have been in possession of firearms at the time of the shooting, court records show.

Jones's "brother from another mother" Rakeem was wanted on multiple warrants at the time of his arrest. He was considered armed, extremely dangerous, and an escape risk, US Marshals said.

The reward for his capture was up to $30,000 as of Aug. 2023.

Shadarryl Jones is being held in the Erie County Prison in lieu of $1.1 million in bail— $1 million for the attempted homicide of three members of law enforcement and $100,000 for the alleged armed robbery, court records show.

He still has over 30 charges against him but several of the "Criminal Attempt - Criminal Homicide" charges have been changed or withdrawn, according to an updated court docket. His trial is set before Judge Carlo Fachetti at 9 a.m. on Jan. 8.

Rakeem Jones's dockets will be updated after he is extradited from Georgia.
