Bail was denied for Todd Richter, 32, his fiance Jennifer Yost and her mother, Wendy Yost -- all of Schuylkill County -- who were all charged with endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault, harassment and more, Fox43 reports.

The investigation into the trio began weeks ago, when the 12-year-old boy -- the oldest of the three children -- escaped from the Francis Street home in Minersville home.

The boy looked distressed and was covered in bruises, and was spotted by a woman on the street who asked if he needed help, the outlet said.

The boy told the woman that his 11-year-old brother and 9-year-old sister were locked in the home, the outlet said.

That's apparently when the woman called police and an investigation began.

An investigation found that the three kids were beaten, pushed down the stairs and only given moldy food to eat.

A preliminary hearing is set for April 13.
