The police arrived to find the two victims struck in the 1000 block of Wayne Avenue at the intersection of Wayne and Sheller Avenues at 12:16 p.m.
An "initial investigation revealed that both pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the roadway mid-block and outside of a crosswalk," the Chambersburg police said in an updated release shortly after 3 p.m.
Both pedestrians were flown to a nearby trauma center after they "sustained serious injuries but at this time the injuries do not appear to be life threatening," according to the release.
The roadway was closed for several hours emergency crews remained on the scene, but the roadways have since reopened.
It is unclear if the vehicle involved stayed on the scene.
