The man who told Allentown police his pregnant girlfriend was abducted during a carjacking over the weekend was lying, authorities claim. Junior Gomez Richardo called police at 3 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 and said that his car had been "forcibly taken" near Walnut and Union streets, according to APD. Firefighters in Allentown responded to a two-alarm blaze on Walnut Street early Wednesday, Jan. 11, the department announced. The fire began around 4:30 a.m. on the 1500 block, officials said on social media. Woman Killed In Allentown Apartment Fire: Authorities
A weekend fire in Allentown claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, authorities said. Jessica Maes died after being pulled from the apartment building blaze on the 800 block of Walnut Street on Saturday, July 16, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Maes was pronounced dead around 5:50 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, officials said. Her cause of death was determined to be the inhalation of combustion products, and her manner of death is still being investigated.
