4 Survive Head-On Crash On I-295 In South Jersey

Three people were seriously hurt in a weekend crash in Gloucester County.

New Jersey State troopers responded on Saturday, March 11 at 3:16 a.m. to the crash in Deptford.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Toyota SUV was disabled in the left northbound lane facing south when it was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda SUV, State Police said.

After the collision between the Honda and Toyota SUV, a Toyota Camry traveling behind the Honda SUV also struck the Toyota SUV head-on. 

As a result of the crash the driver of the Toyota SUV, Charles Abasa-Nyarko, a 38-year-old man from Blackwood, was seriously hurt, police said.

The driver of the Honda SUV, a 23-year-old from Philadelphia, and a passenger in the Toyota Camry, Zonia Cortez, 35, of Philadelphia, also sustained serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Toyota Camry sustained minor injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.
