When East Hempfield Township police arrived at the home of Miguel Angel Rodriguez, in the 2000 block of Swarr Run Road, and as they attempted to get into the home, he immediately opened fire at them around 1:30 a.m., the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office says.

His neighbors were evacuated while SERT arrived—and was also fired upon, according to the DA's release.

But Rodriguez "opened the apartment door and held a rifle outside scanning the area," as negotiators "attempted to communicate" with him, around 2:30 a.m., the release details.

He was then shot once by a SERT member in the arm and shoulder area, who state police are now investigating, the DA explains.

But Rodriguez did not turn himself over, instead, he retreated back inside the home, until 6:27 a.m. when SERT used tear gas to gain entry, as the DA explains in the release.

He's been placed "under the guard in a local hospital," the DA says.

"East Hempfield Township Police and Pennsylvania State Police entered the residence and observed multiple bullet impact points in windows, walls, and ceilings. Police additionally found blood spatter in numerous locations, a pistol on the bed next to the victim, and spent cartridge casings of various calibers throughout the floor," around 10:55 a.m., the DA says.

Nemesis Florentino was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the release.

It appears Rodriguez was planning a murder-suicide as he messaged his family a goodbye text on whatsapp reading:

“Hey I love you, forgive me for what I’ve done. I’m not turning myself in to the police and the police are there. Bye. Take care of my kids and all.”

Florentino was predeceased by her dad, but is survived by her immediate family, and a large extended family both in the US and in the Dominican Republic, according to her sister Adela.

Florentino's funeral and memorial service details had not been released at the time of publishing.
