Daily Voice spoke with a shopper who witnessed the whole situation.

Janelle Kiscaddin couldn't believe her eyes when she and her friend Brittany Kreiser were walking up to the mall and the deer was strolling up the sidewalk.

"He definitely wasn't planning on going into the mall but he saw a man and it scared him,"  she said.  "He was banging his head on the glass trying to get in and then the door that's automatic opened."

The deer entered the mall through a door near Qdoba, Lancaster Online reports citing an employee.

After that, it made its way to JCPenney's it went to a dressing room, probably more out of fear than to try on winter fashions.

Employees in the mall called the Pennsylvania Game Commission, shot the deer, although it is not immediately clear if it was a tranquilizer or a shotgun.

Daily Voice has reached out to the commission and JCPenney but has yet to hear back as of Friday, Nov. 4 at noon.

The store was closed after the incident but has since reopened.
