Foster Homes Needed For 30 Animals Seized From Berks County Home
Rescue officials are desperate for help after 30 animals were seized from a home in Berks County. The Department of Animal Protection from the Animal Rescue League of Berks County was performing a wellness check when they removed 22 dogs, three cats, five snakes, and two geckos were removed from a home in Womelsdorf on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Cats and kittens will be available for adoption at the Guts & Glory Digestive and Wellness Expo on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Animal Rescue League of Berks County announced earlier in the week. 51 Cats, Dogs Rescued From Berks County Home, Owner Charged With Animal Cruelty
A 50-year-old woman from Bern Township has been charged with animal cruelty after 51 cats and dogs were found at her home in poor condition, authorities said. Jennifer May Ayala was charged by Humane Police Officer R. Harnish from the Department of Animal Protection at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County. Ayala is charged with one felony count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals – Causing Serious Bodily Injury, 51 misdemeanor counts of Cruelty to Animals, and 31 summary counts of Neglect of Animals.
