Crews Battle Early Morning Barn Fire In Berks County
A barn in Bally Borough caught fire around 2 a.m. Monday, July 15, according to the Eastern Berks Fire Department. The fire at the barn, located off South 7th Street, reached two alarms, authorities said. The barn contained hay and equipment but all the dairy cows on the property were in another structure and were not harmed, the department said. Eastern Berks Fire Dept. Berks County Man Dies From Injuries Suffered In 2009 Car Crash
A Berks County man who was a passenger in a car that struck a utility pole about 13 years ago died from paraplegia complications on Monday, Sept. 12, authorities said. Duane J. Richard, of Hereford, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest just after 4 p.m. He was 57. Richard suffered paraplegia-related injuries after the car he was riding in veered off the road and struck a utility pole on Fisher Road and Hopkins Road in Lewes, Delaware on Oct. 25, 2009, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. New Wawa Store Opens In Berks County
A new Wawa store is opening Thursday, June 30 in Berks County. There will be a grand opening celebration starting at 10 a.m. at the new Wawa located at 8053 Chestnut Street in Hereford. Prior to the celebration, the new store will open at 8 a.m., when Wawa will begin distributing limited-edition, Wawa “Goose Vibes Only,” t-shirts for the first 100 customers who walk through the door.
