A 53-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Freightliner truck in Philadelphia's Mayfair neighborhood, authorities announced on Monday, Dec. 9. The crash occurred at 1:16 a.m. in the 7600 block of Frankford Avenue as the truck exited a gas station and attempted to make a left turn, Philadelphia police said. According to investigators, the pedestrian walked in front of the truck and was not visible to the driver. A man was fatally shot in a vehicle in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday, Nov. 22, police announced. Officers from the 15th District responded to reports of a person with a gun near the intersection of 5100 Frankford Avenue and Pratt Street at 3:08 p.m., according to investigators. When police and SEPTA officers arrived, they found Moneer Farhat suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in a crashed vehicle, authorities said. A 41-year-old Bensalem man is accused of fatally hitting a pedestrian in Philadelphia, authorities say. Christopher Sorensen was arrested in Kensington on Wednesday, July 31, Philadelphia police said in a release. Sorensen was driving east on Allegheny Avenue when he struck Christopher Cabrera near Frankford Avenue on July 17, according to investigators. Cabrera, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.
