33-year-old McKeesport native, Austin Davis has made history, becoming the first-ever Black Lt. Governor-elect of Pennsylvania, numerous media outlets now project. Davis will be sworn in in January alongside Gov.-elect Josh Shapiro, CNN, ABC, and NBC News project. Bill Banning Transgender Girls From Girls' Sports Races Toward Pennsylvania Senate
A bill banning transgender girls from participating in girls' school sports is making was passed by the Pennsylvania House on Tuesday, April 12. Now heading to the Senate, the bill — passed in an 115-84 vote —would ban "students of the male sex" from playing on all-girls teams. A spokesperson for Democratic Gov. Proposed Bill Says PA High School Students Would Need To Pass Civics Test To Graduate
A bill proposed in the Pennsylvania House would require all high school students to pass a civics test. "Alarming decline in civics knowledge among young Americans," was the motivation for her new proposal, says Rep. Karen Boback, Republican from Luzerne. The test Boback is proposing would include questions from the US citizenship exam issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
