The fire broke out near Exit 37 for PA 233 in Newville on Tuesday, April 15 around 1:13 p.m., prompting emergency crews to temporarily close the southbound lanes while they battled the blaze, according to police.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The left lane has since reopened, and traffic is slowly getting through, officials say. A large crane was brought to the scene, though it’s unclear what its role is in the response.
The trailer was reportedly hauling concentrated juice, fire officials said.
As of 1:50 p.m., a lane restriction remained in place. The roadway was expected to be cleared by 3:30 p.m.
There is also widespread impact as crews across south-central Pennsylvania are also dealing with multiple reports of downed trees and wires due to high winds and storms sweeping the area.
