The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the San Francisco Giants on Monday night, but star Bryce Harper was the big winner, learning that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy.
In typical Harper fashion, the outfielder turned first baseman included the fans in the big moment, having buddy Trea Turner make it official when he handed him a blue bat in the first inning - indicating that his wife, Kayla, is expecting a boy.
Harper wound up striking out and the Phillies dropped Monday's game 10-4, though he is reportedly ecstatic that his fourth child is going to be a boy, according to an MLB.com report.
“I got a text message with the gender,” Turner told Todd Zolecki. “I messed with him a little bit in the dugout. I picked up the pink one and swung it around a little bit.
"He thought he was having a girl, so I had to mess with him a little bit," the shortstop mused. "Sure enough, it was a boy. I ended up handing him the blue one, and he was pretty happy.”
Harper and his wife currently have a son and two daughters.
