A tractor-trailer scrapped against the underpass of a railroad bridge— with a train on it— and ended up shearing off the roof of its trailer in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, August 31, authorities say. Emergency crews were called to the incident on Eckert Street in Pittsburgh's Woods Run neighborhood around 2 p.m., according to Allegheny County dispatchers. A New Jersey man was killed in a violent crash involving a tractor trailer and several cars on the PA Turnpike Friday, July 29, authorities said (scroll for photos). The crash occurred on the Northeast Extension in Carbon County 5:45 p.m. near Mahoning Valley Exit #74. Photos show the tractor's cab and trailer stretched across both sides of the median. Four people were hurt in a crash involving an SUV and tractor-trailer on I-78 Thursday morning, authorities said. The SUV was traveling eastbound in the left lane near mile marker 32.1 in Windsor Township (Berks County) when it swerved into the right lane, and rear-ended a tractor-trailer around 10:20 a.m., according to Pennsylvania State Police. 1 Killed, 1 Hurt In I-78 Crash: PA State Police
One person was killed and another hurt in a crash early Friday morning on I-78 in Berks County, authorities said. A tractor-trailer was stopped on the side of the road around 5:45 a.m. when a box truck traveling westbound near mile marker 29.3 in Tilden Township, struck the back of the tractor-trailer, Pennsylvania State Police said. The passenger of the box truck was pronounced dead while its driver was taken to Reading Hospital with moderate injuries, police said.
