Curfew For All Under 18 Years Old To Be 'Reinforced' In Harrisburg: Officials
Children cannot be in a public place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday nights, and 12 a.m. midnight, and 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays– according to an ordinance police in Harrisburg will soon be enforcing. The so-called 'after-hours' curfew was first put in place in 2007, but on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 city officials said they would be "reinforcing" it. A 19-year-old college baseball player has died after an illegally built dugout seriously injured him, authorities told Daily Voice. Angel Mecardo-Ocasio of Harrisburg was hurt when the dugout collapsed on him at 7th and Radnor Sports Park in Harrisburg around 3 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, according to City of Harrisburg Communications Director Matt Maisel. Students and staff were rushed to another nearby school after a bomb threat was called into Capital Academy on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, around 7 a.m., authorities say. Body Found In Car Near Two Schools In Harrisburg: Authorities
A body was found in a car in Harrisburg on Monday, August 22, 2022, authorities say. The body was found near South 19th and Derry streets in the area of Rowland and Scott Schools, although the schools were not in session when the body was found. The death is "not being investigated as suspicious. No foul play has been detected. Teen Shot In Central Pennsylvania: Authorities
A teenager was shot in central Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 7, authorities say. The teenage boy was found shot around 2 a.m. around the corner of Pine and Front streets, according to City of Harrisburg Director of Communications Matt Maisel. The boy suffered "non-life threatening injuries," and "as of this morning he is doing ok," Maisel told Daily Voice. The victim is supposedly not cooperating with the police, Maisel says. A Pennsylvania high school teacher has been arrested after he threatened his coworkers, according to the police. David Scott Delong, a 53-year-old teacher at Harrisburg high school, sent threatening emails to other staff members the morning of Wednesday, Mar. 16, the Harrisburg bureau of police said in a release on Thursday. "The emails contained several messages that could reasonably be translated as veiled threats," Harrisburg police say.
