Lori Kreider, 45, of Lancaster, believed her child's father lived at the home were she left her 12-year-old on Monday around noon, as she told police.
But Kreider "made no attempt to determine if the father was at the home or not," according to Manheim Township police.
Police were contacted about the incident and asked Kreider to pick up the child but, according to the police, she refused.
The child was turned over to another family member.
Additional details have not been made public.
