Drought Conditions Declared In 35 PA Counties: State Environmental Officials
Drought conditions have been declared in 35 Pennsylvania counties as of Friday, Nov. 1, according to state environmental officials. Thirty-three of those counties are under a Drought Watch while two others are under a Drought Warning, the state's Department of Environmental Protection said in a news release. Poisoned Hawk Found By Hiker In Lower Merion Township: Police
A red-tailed hawk that was suffering after being poisoned was rescued in Lower Merion Township, according to police. Officers responded to a call about a hawk that was in distress in a wooded area of Gladwyne, the Lower Merion Township Police Department said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Officer Brian Devlin, the department's Animal Warden, confirmed to Daily Voice that he was involved in rescuing the hawk on Wednesday, Sept. 25. A hiker on the Winsor Trail initially found the bird and reported it, according to Devlin. The animal was unable to fly and appeared to be in distress. …

The smokestack that long stood at the former B.L. England power plant is set to be imploded on Thursday, Oct. 26. The smokestack in Great Egg Harbor Bay in Beesleys Point is set to implode at 10 a.m. Residents can watch on a Facebook Live here provided by OffShoreDrones. The facility is clearly visible from the Garden State Parkway bridge between Atlantic and Cape May counties.
