A Pennsylvania man is facing charges for killing four dogs he said because they weren't selling, authorities announced. Police were called to 46-year-old John S. Rescuers are pleading for the public to adopt puppies and other animals seized in a Pennsylvania hoarding case this week. More than 170 animals were seized from an Effort (Monroe County) home on Friday, July 14, after the homeowner died, the PSPCA said. The animals were taken to various shelters in the area, but the PSPCA said conditions were already overcrowded — and are begging for future pet owners to adopt. Authorities are searching for answers after a dog was found suffering with multiple gunshot wounds to the body in West Philadelphia Monday night. Officers with the city's Animal Care and Control Team were called to the 1200 block of S. 54th Street late on March 27 after residents reported a dog had been hit by a car, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said in a release. Lebanon City police have issued a statement after a distributing video of officers shooting a lost rescue dog surfaced on social media. Lebanon City police, were called to a report of a stray dog in the first block Tiffany Lane at around 10:26 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, according to the statement. A Columbia County man has been arrested on 353 counts of animal cruelty, according to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Philip C. Malencore, 61 of Berwick was arrested following an investigation conducted by PSPCA. The PSPCA obtained a search warrant to investigate Malencore's property over concerns for animal welfare, removing a total of 188 animals in April.
