A 28-year-old South Jersey man who videotaped sexual assaults of a young girl was sentenced to 15 years in State Prison, authorities announced Thursday, March 10. Cody Rodriguez must serve the entire term before becoming eligible for parole, under the sentence imposed by the Superior Court Judge Philip E. Haines. Rodriguez in September pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault. Browns Mills Man Found Guilty Of Setting House Fire That Killed His Mother, 92; Her Companion
A 62-year-old man from South Jersey has been found guilty of igniting a house fire that claimed two lives, authorities said. Kurt Smith, who lived at the residence in the 500 block of Willow Boulevard in Browns Mills was convicted for causing the death of his elderly mother and her companion, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina. A woman from South Jersey has been indicted for raising money for her dead husband's cremation, but then allegedly left his body in the morgue, authorities said. The widow then spent GoFundMe campaign donations on her own "living expenses," Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said on Monday. Seven convicted sex offenders from South Jersey and Pennsylvania have been indicted for moving without telling law enforcement, authorities said. Police in Burlington County are seeking the public's help in locating suspects in a recent shooting. Pemberton Township police seek any tips in a shooting last Tuesday night in the 100 block of Phillips Ave. in the Browns Mills section of town.
