Fire Erupts at Liberty Road Compost Site, Upper Saucon Firefighters Respond

A significant brush fire broke out at the Liberty Road Compost site, prompting a swift response from Upper Saucon police and firefighters on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at 1:27 p.m., according to officials.

Arriving officers found the blaze spreading from the east side of the facility toward the adjacent wood line. Fire crews from Upper Saucon, Coopersburg, Lower Milford, Upper Milford, Vera Cruz, Eastern Salisbury, and Lower Saucon joined forces to bring the fire under control. The site was heavily saturated to prevent any further spread.

Officials noted that a burn ban is currently in effect, emphasizing the importance of fire safety and prevention during this period.

First responders announced that they will continue to monitor the area over the weekend to ensure the fire remains contained. As a safety measure, the Liberty Road Compost facility will stay closed until Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Upper Saucon officials expressed their gratitude for the coordinated efforts of all departments involved in managing the fire.
