The community is rallying to support the family of a vibrant 19-year-old from Bergen County, NJ who tragically died in a car accident along Interstate 78 in Pennsylvania earlier this week. Ciarra Sanchez was heading east on I-78 in Upper Saucon Township when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a concrete bridge pillar on Monday, Nov. 11, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio. A passenger has been found guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter for a fatal crash on Interstate 78, the Berks County District Attorney's Office annoued on Friday, Oct. 11. Dustin Micheal Harbaugh, 37, of Lebanon, was convicted for causing the crash that killed Jason Carl Blauch, 38, of Myerstown, according to the DA and his obituary posted by Rohland Funeral Home Inc. A 49-year-old Florida man has died following a hit-and-run on Interstate 78, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Saturday, Aug. 24. Jymel Dejuan Smith of Clermont is a trucker, according to his social media, he had pulled his tractor-trailer over on I-78 West near mile marker 41.5 in Greenwich Township at 4:54 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, PSP Hamburg Trooper Brian Roland detailed in the release. All lanes of Interstate 78 are closed in Williams Township after a crash near the New Jersey border, according to transportation officials. The wreck happened in the westbound lanes near Exit 71 (PA 33) around 2:35 p.m., said PennDOT on the 511pa website. Authorities have released additional details in the Interstate 78 crash that shut down a large stretch of the highway on Monday, July 1. The multi-vehicle wreck happened near mile marker 31 in Hamburg, state police said in a release. A tractor-trailer was headed west in a work zone when it hit the center concrete barrier, troopers said. Edgar Guadarrama Jaimes, a Coopersburg father and husband, died in a motorcycle accident last Wednesday, June 26, officials have said. He was 30. Guadarrama Jaimes was pronounced dead at the scene of the Interstate 78 crash, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Two other drivers involved in the accident were not injured.
