A 21-year-old man is facing decades behind bars for shooting a Long Island police officer in the line of duty. Janell Funderburke, of Coram, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, July 11, after pleading guilty to attempted murder and related charges. A person was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in front of a Long Island gas station. It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10. A 19-year-old was riding a motorized scooter northbound on the sidewalk of Route 112 in Medford when he crashed into the passenger side of a 2021 Dodge Durango.
