Hudson Valley Man Sentenced For Murder Of Ex-Girlfriend's Boyfriend
In a courtroom packed with large contingents of supporters for the victim and the defendant, a Hudson Valley man was sentenced to prison for gunning down and killing his ex-friend's new boyfriend.
Orange County resident Walter Post, Jr., age 26, of Pine Bush was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for his jealous killing of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, Michael Hankins, age 29, in Ulster County, on Vinegar Hill Road in Shawangunk in the early morning of Tuesday, Jan. 11, said the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.

Man Shot, Killed At Home In Hudson Valley
A man was shot and killed during a dispute at a Hudson Valley home.
The incident took place in Rockland County around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 in Stony Point on Mott Farm Road.
According to Lt. Greg Becker, of the Stony Point Police, Jason Colwell, age 47, of Garnerville, a hamlet of Haverstraw, was found dead from gunshot wounds.
The suspect, identified as Javier Medina Jr. age 21, of Stony Point, who lives at the home, remained at the scene and was transported to police headquarters for investigation, Becker said.

Westchester Teen Dies After Being Stabbed During Dispute, Police Say
A Westchester teen has died after being stabbed in the neck during a dispute.
Armani McDonald, age 19, of Mount Vernon, was killed just before 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 in the Bronx.
According to the NYPD, police received a 911 call of an assault in progress at 2550 Briggs Ave., in the Bronx.
Upon arrival, officers found McDonald with a stab wound to the neck, NYPD said.
EMS responded and transported the aided male to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two knives were recovered on the scene and a person of interest was taken into custody, police added.

Police have identified a Northern Westchester man who has been apprehended after allegedly setting fire to a home in order to avoid being captured following the stabbing death of another man.
Peekskill resident Shane Gilleo, age 30, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and charged with murder and arson, said Det. Lt. Jack Galusha, of the Peekskill Police.
The incident unfolded around 12:30 p.m., Wednesday when police responded to a call of a person stabbed in front of 7 N. James St., in Peekskill.

Man Who Tried To Jump From Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge Arrested For Murder, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who had attempted to jump from a bridge has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman whose body was found in a wooded area.
Johnny Amaro, age 49, of the town of Ulster, was arrested and charged with felony murder around 11:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1.
According to Chief Kyle Berardi, of the Ulster Police Department, on Thursday around 8:20 a.m., officers were notified of a dead woman in a wooded area off the Eastern Parkway in the town of Ulster.
As a result of an investigation, the woman was found to be a victim of homicide, the chief said.

Man Who Killed Northern Westchester Woman, Mother Released On Parole
The man who killed two women in his Westchester County apartment 36 years ago has been paroled from Green Haven Correctional Facility.
Paul Leon, age 53, formerly of Pelham, was released on Monday, Aug. 22, after having been granted an open date by the Board of Parole following his appearance on Wednesday, Aug. 3, said Rachel Connors of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Leon was 16 years old on July 27, 1986, when he killed Ossining resident Lois Feraca, age 83, and her 49-year-old daughter, Theresa Carbone, by beating and stabbing them.

Trio Indicted For Murder Of Hudson Valley Teen Set To Start Senior Year In High School
A grand jury has indicted three Hudson Valley men in the fatal shooting of a beloved 17-year-old high school student.
Rockland County resident Treynahel Cineus, age 17, of Spring Valley, was found shot to death at around 2:30 a.m. on July 8, in a parking lot on West Eckerson Road.
Cineus, who was about to begin his senior year at Ramapo High School, later died at Good Samaritan Hospital, according to police.
