Summer is coming. In advance of what he says he hopes to be a “normal” summer, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued new guidance for the state’s beaches and pools. For Memorial Day on the weekend of Friday, May 28, beaches and pools in New York will be open with six-foot of social distance in place between those in attendance, with restrictions to be eased if the state continues seeing improved COVID-19 numbers. Beaches in New York will be opened up in time for Memorial Day Weekend celebrations as the state begins slowly “unpausing” amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. During his daily news briefing on Friday, May 15 in Albany, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that state beaches in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Delaware will reopen on Friday, May 22, though there will be strict restrictions in place. But across the border, Connecticut is on target to start Phase 1 of its reopening plan on Wednesday, May 20.
