WESPAC, a peace and justice action network, has scheduled a solidarity march in Beacon for Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The "Resist The Trump Agenda" march and rally will take place at the intersection of Main Street and Route 9D across from City Hall.
According to the WESPAC website, the organization, in operation since 1974, is a leading force for progressive social change in Westchester and surrounding counties, educating, agitating and organizing for a more just and peaceful world, an end to militarism and racism and a more fair economy that works for all.
White Plains resident Laurie Rigelhaupt said she, like many, is upset and worried about what our new president will do. "Any business model is unsuited for governing a large, diverse country, but Trump's is especially dangerous," she said.
"The idea that he intends to keep people and nations deliberately off-balance and unsure of what he will do, will cause a frightening instability at every level. A president who contradicts himself constantly, whose words cannot be trusted, will create chaos within the U.S. and around the world. A man who is steeped in the world of show business, who thrives on its petty intrigues, is not presidential material. But, unfortunately, he is our president and our problem."
