Congressman Antonio Delgado Visits Hrhcare Amenia Health Center

On Monday, August 26, United States Congressman Antonio Delgado, representing the 19th District of New York, visited Hudson River Health Care’s Amenia Health Center. Joined by CEO Anne Kauffman Nolon and other HRHCare executives and health center staff, Congressman Delgado was able to learn more about the vital impact the health center has on the Amenia community, as well as the importance of securing much needed Community Health Center Program funds to ensure that health centers nationwide are able to continue to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care to those in need.

In addition to visiting the health center, the Congressman toured HRHCare’s mobile health center which brings care directly patients at local farms, community agencies, and churches, and the health center’s successful community garden. At the conclusion of his visit, the Congressman assisted HRHCare staff in planting a conica spruce tree in front of the health center in commemoration of his visit, and to honor the deep roots and continued growth that HRHCare has in the Amenia community.

“Community health centers provide essential services for Dutchess County and residents throughout Upstate New York—and continue to lead by providing affordable, quality health care in our region,” said Congressman Antonio Delgado. “I enjoyed meeting with Hudson River Health Care leadership, touring their state-of-the-art facilities, and learning more about their innovative programs to expand health care services in rural areas. Community health centers are critical access points to care in rural communities and for low-income individuals and families. That’s why I am so proud to support the work of Hudson River Health Care and community health centers, and why I will work with my colleagues to ensure continued authorization and funding for the program.”

"We are pleased to host Congressman Antonio Delgado at the HRHCare Amenia Health Center to showcase our primary, dental, and mobile health services,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, HRHCare CEO. "With the federal Community Health Center Program funds expiring at the end of September, we appreciate the Congressman’s support in securing this critical source of health center funding to keep New Yorkers in the 19th District in good health.”

A community health network stretching across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island, HRHCare has served patients in Amenia since 2001. Other Dutchess County HRHCare locations include health centers in Dover Plains and in the Family Partnership Center and on Washington Street in Poughkeepsie. Nationwide, community health centers are that nation’s largest primary care network, serving more than 28 million patients.
