The wreck happened on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Uniondale, north of the Southern State Parkway, at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. New York State Police said a Toyota Camry was heading northbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 80-year-old Lillie Carpenter, of Roosevelt, died at the scene, police said.
