Ramapo Police Make 2 DWI Arrests During Monday Afternoon Shift

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police arrested two residents of Spring Valley on separate DWI charges Monday afternoon.

In the first case, an officer noticed an operator in Chestnut Ridge driving without headlights on, according to officials.

The 24-year-old woman was found to be two times over the legal limit, police report.

In the second case, police investigated an accident in which a driver lost control around a bend on Rockland Lane in Hillcrest and drove through a front lawn, according to officials.

The defendant is scheduled to answer the charge against him in Ramapo Town Court at a later date, police report.

Police responded to seven motor vehicle accidents in the area on Monday.

The sites of the accidents included: Rockland Lane in Hillcrest; Route 202 in Ladentown; Scotland Hill Road in Chestnut Ridge; Route 59 in Airmont; Orange Turnpike in Sloatsburg; and two on North Airmont Road in Montebello.

There were no injuries reported in any of the accidents.

Ramapo police handled 107 calls Monday, including 13 alarm activations, eight medical emergencies and three fires.

A total of five arrests were made; charges included DWI, second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and two warrants, police report.
