RAMAPO, N.Y. -- FBI agents were spread across Ramapo Wednesday afternoon with search warrants for records for materials and equipment purchased for local schools with federal education technology dollars, according to multiple reports.
The raids are part of a probe into whether yeshivas based in the county spent money that had been allocated through the E-rate program, according to News 12.
Rockland police and FBI agents are using the Fire Training Center in Ramapo as a staging area, according to reports.
No arrests were made in Wednesday's raids, according to reports.
Rumors of the probe first surface last week, as reported here.
Officials have not yet publicly commented on Wednesday's developments, other than a brief statement released by the FBI that reads: “Today, the FBI conducted searches in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.
"If and when charges are filed, they will eventually become public.
"This remains an ongoing matter, and we are unable to provide any additional information at this time.”
