The first project for Ubiquity Energy, the firm owned by Ramapo resident James Mcevoy, will be located in Cotabato City and is expected to generate enough power to benefit 35,000 homes while reducing electric rates by 35 percent, according to a press release.
Roughly 300 long term jobs will be created as a result. Meanwhile the financial backing for the project comes from Charna Coin, a cryptocurrency company also owned by Mcevoy.
The project in Cotabato City is expected to serve as a pilot for future solar farm projects to cover swaths of Mindanao--the island where Cotabato City is located--with cheap, dependable, clean energy.
The project is expected to be operating at full capacity by the summer of 2017.
