20 Area Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops
Nearly two dozen local residents were among those busted by New York State Police troopers for alleged impaired driving in the area. Hudson Valley and Fairfield County residents charged include: Dutchess County On Friday, Dec. 13, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Omar Gomez Florentino, 21, of Pleasant Valley, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on State Route 44 in the town of Pleasant Valley, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Snow Causes Slippery Driving Conditions With Numerous Crashes
This story has been updated. A quick-moving system bringing snow caused slippery driving conditions with reduced visibility during the morning commute. The snowfall has become lighter after 7 a.m. Friday, March 1, but precipitation, including snow showers and flurries, continued through around 8:30 a.m. for much of the area before tapering off. Former IBM Campus In Somers Could Become Private High School For 1,800 Students
The owners of the former IBM property have begun the process of getting approval from the town for their plan to renovate the behemoth building into a STEM academy boarding school for up to 1,800 students. The academy, which has yet to be named, plans to open off of Route 100 in 2020 --starting with ninth and 10th grades.
