The incident happened in Putnam County just after 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when authorities responded to a lockdown alarm activation at Mahopac High School that indicated it was "not a drill," according to the Carmel Police Department. Mahopac High School softball ace Shannon Becker struck out a state record 21 of 21 batters she faced in a record-setting performance against rival Carmel, allowing no baserunners during her perfect game. Becker and Mahopac easily won the game over Carmel 8-0. During the game, Becker was tossing the ball more than 60 mph, which is the equivalent of a mid-90s fastball in baseball.
