State officials are warning people not to consume unpasteurized raw milk that was sold by a New York farm due to possible bacteria concerns. Routine testing revealed the presence of bacteria in unpasteurized milk that was sold by Montgomery County’s HuHill Farm in Fort Plain, according to the state’s Department of Agriculture and Markets. The farm was prohibited from selling raw milk until further testing indicated it was free of the harmful bacteria. Thousands Of Pheasants, Ducks At NY Game Farm Euthanized Over Bird Flu Fears
Thousands of pheasants and mallards were euthanized on Long Island due to an avian flu outbreak, the farm’s owner told Daily Voice. Suffolk County resident Dave Schellinger, age 80, of Sag Harbor, who owns Spring Farm, on Clay Pit Road, just off the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, said he plans to close the 82-year-old farm now that his birds are gone. "It's sad," he said. "But at least the flu is of no danger to the public." Contaminated Milk Found In Hudson Valley
State agriculture officials announced Wednesday they have found disease-causing bacteria contaminating raw milk at a Hudson Valley dairy. A food alert issued by the Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner warned consumers in Dutchess County and the surrounding area not to consume unpasteurized raw milk from Shunpike Dairy due to possible Listeria Monocytogenes contamination. New NY Law Looks To Help Reunite Lost Pets With Owners
Lost pets may soon be a thing of the past in New York. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law this week that will require found pets to be checked for microchips within 24 hours of being picked up on local streets. The law will require animal shelters and rescue groups that take in lost animals to check if a found pet has a chip or other identifying information that may help them reunite with their family. A list of rules and regulations are also being developed by the Department of Agriculture and Markets to help standardize microchip technology in pets in New York. According…
