Teen's Shooting Threat Leads To Increased Patrols At Long Island Schools
Threats of a school shooting led to a police investigation and increased patrols at several Long Island schools. At around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, the Southampton Town Police Department learned that an online post was circulating among students in the Hampton Bays School District. In the post, an unidentified boy said he couldn’t take being bullied anymore and was going to shoot up a school, police said. A 21-year-old man was sentenced for a shooting outside a Long Island high school that left a victim with serious injuries. Alarms were sounding among some school districts in New York amid threats being made on social media as part of what is seemingly a national scheme. Police Investigate Reports Of Shots Fired Near High School In Westchester
Police investigators in Westchester are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down suspects who were involved in a shooting near an area high school as students were being dismissed. The Mount Vernon Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Mount Vernon High School on California Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13.
