Port Washington School Superintendent Charged With DWI After Crash Seriously Injures Motorist
A Long Island school superintendent has bee accused of driving while intoxicated after a crash on Long Island seriously injured a motorist. Suffolk County Police said the incident occurred at about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Sayville, at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Depot Street. Michael Hynes, age 53, of Sayville and the superintendent of the Port Washington Union Free School DIstrict, was driving a 2019 Honda Civic northbound on Railroad Avenue when he attempted to turn left onto Depot Street, according to Suffolk County Police. Suffolk County Man Facing Hate Crime Charges For Stealing Pride Flags, Police Say
A Long Island man is facing multiple hate crime charges for stealing LGBTQ+ pride flags over the summer. Robert Fehring, age 74, of Bayport, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief as a hate crime and two counts of fourth-degree larceny as a hate crime, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. SCPD said the flags were stolen and flag brackets were broken at locations along Railroad Avenue in Sayville between Friday, July 23 and Monday, July 26.
