These Nassau County Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists A group of Long Island high school seniors put in the work and now they’re in the running for one of the most prestigious academic honors in the country. Hundreds of students from across Nassau and Suffolk counties were named as semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. They join more than 16,000 other students from across the United States after earning high marks on the Preliminary SAT during their junior year.
