Man Dives Off Boat, Injures Neck In Wantagh: Police A man was airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries after he dove off the front of his boat in a Long Island bay. It happened in Wantagh on Sunday, July 7, Nassau County Police said. That day, a 47-year-old man was on his boat in Zach’s Bay. At about 4:20 p.m., he dove off the front of the boat into the shallow water and hit his head, injuring his neck. He was found by the Nassau County Marine Bureau and transported to the Jones Beach Theater, where he was then airlifted to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Additional details have not been released.

Man Found Dead Floating In Water On Long Island, Police Say Police are investigating after a man was found dead floating in the water on Long Island. The incident occurred in Nassau County in the area of the Safe Harbor Marina in Glen Cove around 8:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 27. According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 911 call was received for a person floating in the water in the Safe Harbor Marina located at 128 Shore Road.  Glen Cove Police, the Nassau County Marine Bureau, Nassau County Emergency Service Unit and the Glen Cove Fire Department all responded to the area. A passerby in Long Beach observed a male in the Reynolds Channel at around 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, according to Nassau County Police. The Nassau County Police Department said a 911 caller reported that a person was floating in the Broad Channel in Lawrence at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Police said the following agencies responded to recover the body: Nassau County Police Department Nassau County Marine Bureau Nassau County Aviation Hempstead Bay Constable  Long Beach Fire Department Police did not release the identity of the person who died. Seven Rescued On Long Island After Boat Begins Taking On Water Seven people aboard a boat that was taking on water were rescued by police on Long Island. The rescue took place around 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, in Oyster Bay. According to police, the Nassau County Marine Bureau received a call for a vessel taking on water while being towed.  It was determined the boat was taking on water due to the turbulent sea conditions.  Marine 11 was dispatched and safely transferred all seven persons aboard.  They were transported to a local marina.  No injuries were reported.

Man Clinging To Kayak Without Life Jacket Rescued In Long Island Sound A 27-year-old man holding on to his kayak without a life jacket was rescued in the Long Island Sound  It happened on Wednesday, July 8 at around 11 p.m. off the coast of Oyster Bay, approximately half mile from Center Island, Nassau County Police said. Nassau County Marine Bureau 5 discovered the man yelling for help. He was then recovered from the water by Marine Bureau and brought back to shore.  He was treated by Nassau County medical personnel and in stable condition.
