Closures Announced For Jericho Turnpike On Long Island According to transportation officials, lanes on Long Island’s State Route 25 will be closed to facilitate paving projects. Starting Monday, Oct. 23, and lasting for approximately five nights, one to two lanes in Westbury and Old Westbury will be closed at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Glen Cove Road, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. Nassau County Police say they observed a driver failing to signal and maintain the proper lane on the Jericho Turnpike near Powell Lane in Westbury on Sunday, June 23 around 8 a.m. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, identified as Elmer Martinez-Cartagena, 28, of Glen Cove, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
