Officer Injured During Cocaine-Related Arrest On Long Island

A Long Island man whose car contained what police believed to be cocaine resisted arrest, ultimately injuring a police officer.

Steven B. Clark, aged 40, was arrested on Thursday, June 22 after cocaine was allegedly found in his car and he resisted arrest, police said.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 22 at approximately 9:07 p.m. in Carle Place, according to Nassau County Police.

Near Westbury Avenue and Jamaica Boulevard, officers conducted a routine traffic stop on 40-year-old Steven B. Clark.

However, upon investigation, officials reported finding and ultimately recovering multiple plastic bags containing a powdery white substance that is believed to be cocaine, as well as items that are consistent with narcotics manufacturing and selling.

When police attempted to place Clark under arrest, he resisted, NCPD said.

Clark allegedly became violent and combative, and one of the officers is reported to have sustained injuries during the arrest.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The nature of his injuries was not publicized by the NCPD.

Clark is charged with the following:

Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, six counts;

Second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, four counts;

Resisting arrest; and

Second-degree assault.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, June 23 at First District Court.
