The United States Department of Justice will determine whether or not to investigate the alleged underreporting of COVID-19 deaths in New York nursing homes. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Friday, Jan. 29 that it will be up to the Department of Justice to investigate following a report from New York Attorney General Letitia James, which found that the state may have underreported nursing home deaths by upwards of 50 percent.
