Car Catches Fire On Busy Road In Westchester County A fire department in Westchester County was tasked with putting out a car fire on a busy road.  The blaze started on Sunday, Nov. 13, around 1:30 p.m. in Purchase on Westchester Ave in the area of the Butcher Bridge, where first responders found a late model 4-series Mercedes on fire in the parking lot of 565 Westchester Ave., according to the Purchase Fire Department.  The fire was eventually put out by 2:30 p.m. with the help of two of the department's fire trucks, fire officials said.  The cause of the fire was not reported by the fire department.

One Extricated In Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer On I-684 One person was extricated from a van following a two-vehicle crash that also involved a tractor-trailer on I-684. The crash took place Monday morning, Jan. 21 northbound near I-287 in Purchase, said officials with the Purchase Fire Department. Personnel from Purchase, along with the West Harrison Fire Department, Harrison EMS were dispatched to scene were they extricated the trapped person, the department said. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
