Nearly 30 years after fatally stabbing a fellow inmate at a Northern Westchester prison because he wore a cross, a 54-year-old New York man learned he will spend decades in prison for the killing. Driver Nabbed For DWI While En Route To Pick Up Drunk Friend In Region
A patron of a local bar in Northern Westchester called the wrong friend to come pick him up, police said. The head-scratching incident began at around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, when a Westchester County Police officer stopped a car driving erratically in Mount Kisco on Lieto Drive. A Northern Westchester resident has received national recognition for his efforts to create the ultimate energy-efficient home almost completely from scratch. Ossining resident Daniel Colombini was honored with a 2024 US Department of Energy Housing Innovation Award for his "passive house," according to Goldman Copeland, the New York City-based consulting engineering firm where he is a Principal. Several residents were saved from the rear of a burning Northern Westchester residence after officers braved flames and a downed live wire to rescue them. The blaze happened in Ossining on Tuesday night, Aug. 6, when a residence on Maurice Avenue went up in flames, according to Ossining Police. A Northern Westchester man has been accused of threatening to kill US Postal Service employees and burn down post officers. Ossining resident Anthony Alfano, age 46, was arrested in Yorktown Heights on Friday, July 19, after making violent threats against USPS employees and threatening to burn down US post offices in Ossining, according to federal authorities.
